Young Earns UAA All-Tournament Recognition in Women’s Tennis

Senior Peyton Young was named to the 2018 University Athletic Association Women's Tennis All-Tournament Team for her play at sixth singles during the conference championships last weekend in Altamonte Springs, Florida.

Young posted a perfect 3-0 record at sixth singles to help the 16th-ranked Spartans win two out of their three matches en route to placing fifth at the conference championships.

She earned a 6-4, 5-7, 1-0 win over Washington's Lisa Chonis, then posted a 6-0, 6-3 victory over Rochester's Bianca Dyer and closed out the championships with a 2-6, 6-3, 1-0 win over Brandeis' Michele Lehat.

Young also teamed with freshman Nicole Cardwell to post wins over Wash. U (8-4), Rochester (8-1) and Brandeis (8-4) at No. 3 doubles.

For the season, Young leads the squad with a 19-5 overall record in singles play and a 23-6 mark in doubles play.

Case Western Reserve will now await the selection announcement for the field for the NCAA Division III Championships. Team selections are scheduled to be posted to by noon Eastern Time on Monday, May 7th, with individual selections slated to be posted to the website at 7:00 p.m. ET on Wednesday, May 9th.
