18th-Ranked Women’s Tennis Returns Home to Face #37 Rochester (N.Y.)

The Case Western Reserve University women's tennis team, ranked 18th in Division III, will return to action with a home match against the 37th-ranked University of Rochester on Saturday, March 3rd at 9:00 a.m. at the Cleveland Skating Club.

The Spartans have opened their spring season with a 5-2 record, including an 8-1 win against Kalamazoo College in their last outing. CWRU is ranked 18th in the ITA Preseason National Rankings, and third in the Central Region poll.

Seniors Peyton Young (6-0) and Nina Cepeda (3-0) have each opened their spring seasons undefeated, while the No. 1 doubles duo of senior Nithya Kanagasegar and freshman Madeleine Paolucci have combined to go 5-2 in doubles play so far this spring.

Rochester, ranked 37th in the National Rankings, stands at 1-1 after picking up a 7-2 victory over Ithaca College on February 18th. Rochester is scheduled to play Oberlin College on Friday, before traveling to Cleveland to face the Spartans on Saturday. The Yellowjackets lineup features Camila Garcia who has posted a 1-1 record at first singles this spring, while also teaming with Sravya Gudipudi at first doubles to post a 2-0 record. Last season, CWRU claimed a 7-2 win over Rochester.
