The 18th-ranked Case Western Reserve University women's tennis team will host two home matches this weekend, taking on Centre College at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, February 16th, followed by an 11:00 a.m. meeting against Indiana University of Pennsylvania on Sunday, February 18th. Both matches will be played at the Cleveland Skating Club.
The Spartans opened their spring season with two wins in three matches this past weekend, including a win over 16th-ranked Trinity (Tex.) University last Friday.
CWRU, which is ranked third in the Central Region in addition to being ranked 18th in the national poll, features a pair of regionally-ranked singles players in senior Nithya Kanagasegar (11th) and freshman Madeleine Paolucci (15th).
Centre is 1-0 on the season, after winning a 6-3 decision at home over Transylvania University on September 27th. Ranked 9th in the Atlantic-South Region, the Colonels lineup features junior Neha Rao, who closed last spring No. 18 among the region's top-ranked singles players. Rao and senior Aliza Williams finished last year ranked seventh in the region's doubles rankings. This will be the first meeting between the two schools during the Coach Gambrell era.
Indiana (Pa.) will begin their spring season on Friday against Oberlin College before traveling to Cleveland to face the Spartans. The Crimson Hawks closed out the fall season with a 6-3 win at Kutztown on October 7th. CWRU and Indiana (Pa.) last met during the 2013-14 season, when the Spartans defeated the Crimson Hawks 5-4.
