CWRU Women’s Tennis Opens Season at Oberlin Invitational

The Case Western Reserve University women's tennis team, which ended the 2015-16 season ranked 20th in Division III, kicked off its 2016 fall season this weekend at the Oberlin Invitational in Oberlin, Ohio.

Leading the way for the Spartans at the tournament was senior Kennedy Mulholland, who went 3-0 in singles play during the weekend, while freshman Katrin Gurvich began her collegiate career with a 2-1 performance at Oberlin.  Other CWRU players to collect singles wins during the tournament includes sophomore Jessica Liu, senior Jennifer Lowe and junior Peyton Young.

CWRU players combined to go 6-4 in doubles action as well, with five different pairings securing at least one win.  Junior Nina Cepeda and Lowe went 2-0 together in doubles matches, with Cepeda adding a win in a match with Young.  Mulholland added two more wins in doubles play, going 1-0 with Gurvich and 1-1 with freshman Lauren Beier.

The Spartans will be back in action from Friday, September 30th through Sunday, October 2nd, when the team travels to Kalamazoo, Michigan for the ITA Central Region Fall Championships.
