#21 CWRU Women’s Tennis Looks to Rebound at Blue-Grey Invitational

The Case Western Reserve University women's tennis team, ranked 19th in Division III, will look to bounce back from its first two losses of the campaign last week, when the team travels to Fredericksburg, Virginia for the Blue-Grey Invitational, hosted by the University of Mary Washington.

The Spartans will open play at the event against Bates College on Friday, March 18th at 3:00 p.m., followed by an 8:00 a.m. match against The College of New Jersey on Saturday, March 19th.  Case Western Reserve will wrap-up the weekend against host and nationally 18th-ranked Mary Washington on Sunday, March 20th at 12:00 p.m.

Case Western Reserve stands at 5-2 on the season, and checked in at 21st in the latest Oracle/ ITA Division III Women's Tennis Rankings, released on Thursday afternoon.  The Spartans have a .637 winning percentage (58-33) in singles play this year, including a .667 mark (28-14) in the spring.  In doubles action, CWRU has gone 28-17 overall (.609) with a 14-7 (.667) spring record.

Bates stands at 3-3 overall on the season, including a 9-0 loss at seventh-ranked Middlebury last Saturday.  

The College of New Jersey made its initially appearance of the season in the national rankings, checking in at 29th in this week's poll.  The team has opened its campaign with an 8-0 record, including a 5-4 win over Brandeis last Saturday, and will face #12 Johns Hopkins on Friday before taking on the Spartans on Saturday.

The University of Mary Washington is ranked 18th in the latest poll, and has won back-to-back matches since a 9-0 setback at third-ranked Pomona Pitzer on March 5th.  The Eagles will host 17th-ranked Skidmore, Bates and Penn State – Harrisburg before facing the Spartans on Sunday.
