Kanagasegar’s ITA Run Ends with Loss in Finals of Singles Draw

Case Western Reserve University sophomore Nithya Kanagasegar saw her run at the 2015 USTA/ ITA Central Region Championships in Kalamazoo, Michigan come to an end on Monday morning with a loss in the championship match of the singles draw.

Kanagasegar, the fifth-seeded player in the draw, fell in straight sets to the second-seeded player, Ariana Iranpour of the University of Chicago, 6-1, 6-2.

With the loss, Kanagasegar wrapped up her fall season with an overall singles record of 7-2, and a doubles mark of 6-2.  She also reached the semifinals of the doubles draw at the tournament with senior Sara Zargham.

The completion of the ITA Regional Championships also marks the end of the fall season for the Spartans, who finished the campaign with a combined singles record of 30-19 (.619 winning percentage) and a doubles record of 14-11 (.560 winning percentage).

Case Western Reserve will resume its spring season on Saturday, February 6th at home against Kenyon College.
