Spartans Continue Play at Oberlin Invitational

The Case Western Reserve University women's tennis team continued play at their season-opening tournament, the Oberlin Invitational, on Saturday, collecting an additional five singles wins and two doubles victories during the second day of play.

Junior Jennifer Lowe remained undefeated during the tournament, picking up a three-set (7-6 (3), 1-6, 10-5) singles win over Oberlin's Ariana Abayomi, and teaming with freshman Jessica Liu to defeat Denison's Rochell Issa and Emma Alsup 8-1 in doubles play.  Liu also added a 6-3, 6-0 win over Denison's Taylor Hawkins in singles play.

Adding singles wins on Saturday were sophomore Nithya Kanagasegar (6-4, 6-2 over Oberlin's Mayada Audeh), senior Taylor Sweeney (6-2, 6-1 over Otterbein's Sammi Kruger), and sophomore Nina Cepeda (6-4, 6-1 over Denison's Sarah Torrence).

In doubles action, Kanagasegar and Sweeney combined for an 8-2 win over John Carroll University's Lauren O'Malley and Maidsyn Rini.

The Spartans will wrap-up play at the Oberlin Invitational on Sunday.
