No. 23 Spartan Women Split Against No. 9 Washington U. and Coe

CHICAGO – The No. 23 nationally ranked Case Western Reserve University women's tennis team went 1-1 on Saturday with a 6-3 loss to No. 9 Washington University in St. Louis and a 7-1 victory versus Coe College (Iowa).

The Spartans wrap up the regular season at 9-9 overall with all nine losses coming to nationally ranked opponents.

Freshman Sarah Berchuck (Dallas, Texas/Baylor School & Suffield Academy) turned in an impressive 4-0 day with wins in doubles and singles against both opponents. In the match against Washington U., Berchuck won at No. 2 doubles with sophomore partner Surya Khadilkar (Broadview Heights, Ohio/Hawken School) by a score of 8-5 before winning again at No. 5 singles, 6-0, 6-3.

Then, against Coe, Berchuck and Khadilkar earned an 8-2 win at No. 1 doubles before Berchuck finished her perfect day with a 6-3, 6-1 win at No. 4 singles.

For the day, Khadilkar finished 3-1 as she won in singles against Coe at No. 3 (6-0, 6-0).

CWRU is now idle until the University Athletic Association Championship Tournament which is scheduled for April 25-27 in Altamonte Springs, Florida.
