ALTAMONTE SPRINGS, Fla. – The No. 22 nationally-ranked Case Western Reserve University women's tennis team fell by a score of 8-1 to No. 7 University of Chicago to open the 2013 University Athletic Association Championship on Thursday morning at Sanlando Park.

The fifth-seeded Spartans (11-8, 0-1 UAA) fall into the consolation bracket and will now face the No. 8 seed New York University tomorrow afternoon at 2:00 p.m.

No. 4 seed Chicago (15-4, 1-0 UAA) advances in the winner's bracket to square off versus top-seeded Emory University (Ga.).

After the Maroons swept the three doubles matches and the first three singles bouts, the Spartans picked up their lone point at No. 6 from sophomore Alexandra Lim (Fullerton, Calif./Fullerton Union) via straight-set scores of 6-2, 6-2 versus Stephanie Lee.

A win versus NYU on Friday would put the Spartans into the UAA Championship fifth-place match on Saturday, April 27 at 9:00 a.m. A loss would drop the team into the seventh-place match which will be played simultaneously on Saturday.
