PITTSFORD, N.Y. – On the heels of a perfect weekend on the court, Case Western Reserve University No. 1 women's tennis player Erika Lim (Fullerton, Calif./Fullerton Union) has been selected as the University Athletic Association Player of the Week for the third time this year, announced the league office on Monday.
Lim, now a five-time UAA Player of the Week for her career, posted an unblemished 3-0 mark at both No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles during a 3-0 weekend for the Spartans. Competing at the Central Region Shootout at Oberlin College, Lim led the 16-2 Spartans to wins versus Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association foes Hope College, Kalamazoo College and Albion College. Lim did not drop a set in singles action and did not allow an opponent over three games during any singular set. She also teamed with freshman sister Alexandra Lim for wins of 8-1, 8-3 and 8-0 in the top flight of doubles.
Via her trio of individual singles victories, Erika Lim improves to 20-6 overall this season with a 15-3 mark in dual matches. This past fall, she became the first player in school history to advance the title match of the United States Tennis Association/Intercollegiate Tennis Association Central Regional Championship.
This coming Saturday, Case travels to UAA foe the University of Chicago (Ill.) for a tri-match versus a pair of nationally-ranked teams. The Spartans will square off with Washington University-St. Louis, ranked No. 13 in nation, at 11:00 a.m., before turning around to play No. 6 Chicago, also the Central region's top-ranked team.
