PITTSFORD, N.Y. – Coming off of a perfect weekend on the courts, Case Western Reserve University No. 1 women's tennis player Erika Lim (Fullerton, Calif./Fullerton Union) has been selected as the University Athletic Association Player of the Week for her role in three dual victories this past weekend, announced the league office on Tuesday.
Lim earns the award for the second time this season and third time in her career after posting a 3-0 record in both singles and doubles action. Playing two Atlantic South regionally-ranked teams in No. 15 Birmingham Southern College (Ala.) and No. 20 Agnes Scott College (Ga.) as well as Huntingdon College, Lim posted three straight-set victories without allowing an opponent above three points in a set. Lim also teamed with freshman sister Alexandra Lim for three doubles wins without allowing an opposing duo over four points.
Erika Lim is now 17-6 overall this season with a 12-3 mark in dual matches. This past fall, she became the first player in school history to advance the title match of the United States Tennis Association/Intercollegiate Tennis Association Central Regional Championship.
The Spartans (13-3 overall), who concluded their annual spring break trip with a 5-0 mark, have some time off before they hit the courts up north and square off with Grove City College (Pa.) on Saturday, March 24 at 10:30 a.m.
