WOOSTER, Ohio – The Case Western Reserve University women's tennis team swept the College of Wooster, 9-0, without losing a set on Friday, April 1. With the win, the Spartans have won three of their last four matches and improved to 7-5 on the season.
The Spartans will play next at Allegheny College (PA) on Wednesday, April 13. First serve is scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
In singles play, the Spartans swept all six points beginning with sophomore Erika Lim's (Fullerton, CA/Fullerton Union) nearly flawless win over Ashley Stockwell, 6-0, 6-1. Sophomore Emily Pham (Mason, OH/William Mason) followed suit with a dismissal of Wooster's Kelsey Jenkins, 6-1, 6-0.
At third singles, freshman Kara Richardson (Columbus, OH/Upper Arlington) defeated Suzi Hamby by a score of 6-2, 6-2. Freshman Bianca Patel (Cincinnati, OH/Sycamore) also had little trouble at the four spot, taking down Boo Flynn, 6-2, 6-0. Sophomore Kathleen Evers (Cincinnati, OH/Mount Notre Dame) did not drop a point at fifth singles, handling Lauren Gilliss, 6-0, 6-0. Freshman Evelyn Qi (Tampa, FL/C. Leon King) picked up the last singles point with a decision over Margaret Trainor, 6-4, 6-3.
Pham and Lim teamed up to defeat Stockwell and Flynn, 8-1, at first doubles. Richardson and Evers were 8-2 winners at the two spot, and Patel and Qi blanked Smith and Lauren Gilliss 8-0 to secure the sweep in doubles.
