Case Western Reserve University Head Swimming and Diving Coach Doug Milliken has announced the hiring of Kristy Kinzer as the team's assistant coach.
"I am incredibly excited to welcome Kristy to the CWRU Swimming & Diving program," said Milliken. "Kristy separated herself from a tremendous pool of applicants. Her knowledge and passion for the sport, coupled with her energy and enthusiasm will be a welcomed addition to the pool deck."
Kinzer comes to Case Western Reserve after a two-year stint at Western Michigan University, where she served as the graduate assistant for the Human Performance and Health Education Department. While at Western Michigan, Kinzer also spent two seasons as Head Coach of the Mattawan High School girls swimming and diving team.
Kinzer began her coaching career as an assistant at her alma mater, Calvin College. During her two years on the staff, she also held assistant athletic director roles with the swimming and diving and track and field teams. Her duties included but were not limited to the following: athletic event management, aquatics directing, facility management, swimming and diving coaching, track and field management, creating periodized training plans, coordinating effective weight-training and strengthening programs, and facilitating team bonding and relationship-building activities.
She also has worked two years as a freelance sports writer for Swimming World Online Magazine and for the Fitter and Faster Swim Tour, including learning from Olympic clinicians and coaches.
Kinzer graduated from Calvin in 2014 with her Bachelor's degree in Nursing, before receiving her Master's degree in Exercise and Sport Medicine from Western Michigan in the spring of 2019.
