CLEVELAND – The Case Western Reserve University women's swimming & diving team took first place in all 16 events en route to a 214-75 victory versus Ohio Northern University on Seniors' Day at Veale Natatorium.
The Spartans improve to 4-4 in dual meets with just one remaining on the schedule. The Polar Bears drop to 3-7.
Prior to the meet, CWRU honored its 12 swimming & diving senior student-athletes, including women's team members Brianna Cain (Perry, Ohio/Perry), Sophia Colevas (Washington, D.C./St. John's College), Abby Glenn (Novi, Mich./Novi), Sarah Mastrandrea (East Amherst, N.Y./Buffalo Academy of the Sacred Heart) and Allison Vogler (Bloomfield Hills, Mich./Mercy).
Of the team's 16 first-place finishes, two came from Glenn in the 1,000-yard freestyle (1:18.24) and 500 free (5:30.98), and one came from Colevas in the 200 backstroke (2:16.09).
In addition to Glenn, three other Spartans were double-winners.
Junior Rebecca Pakradooni (Augusta, Ga./Lakeside) took first in the 200 free (2:01.61) and 100 butterfly (59.99). Freshman Ellie Wilson (Cincinnati, Ohio/Seven Hills) won the 100 breaststroke (1:07.87) and 200 breaststroke (2:29.45), while classmate Mary Katherine Miller (Baton Rouge, La./Saint Joseph's Academy) was first in the 200 fly (2:14.92) and 200 individual medley (2:19.51).
The Spartans final tune-up for the University Athletic Association Championship will come next Saturday, January 31 at cross-town rival Baldwin Wallace University. Action is set to begin at 1:00 p.m.
The team is then idle until the UAA Championship Meet on February 11-14 in Atlanta.
