Spartan Women Open Season With Loss to Carnegie Mellon

CLEVELAND – Senior co-captain Rebecca Pakradooni (Augusta, Ga./Lakeside) and freshman Mary Katherine Miller (Baton Rouge, La./Saint Joseph's Academy) each won a pair of events, but the Case Western Reserve University women's swimming and diving team fell to University Athletic Association rival Carnegie Mellon University (Pa.), 183-115, on Saturday afternoon at Veale Natatorium.

Pakradooni won each individual event she entered, placing first in the 200-yard freestyle in 1:59.67 and the 100 butterfly in 59.32.

Miller, in her first collegiate competition, earned first-place finishes in the 200 fly (2:10.46) and 200 breaststroke (2:34.50).

Freshman Inez Moore, also racing her first collegiate events, picked up her first win in the 50 freestyle (25.24).

CWRU will return to action next Saturday, November 1 versus John Carroll University at Veale Natatorium. The meet is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
