WOOSTER, Ohio – The Case Western Reserve University women's swimming & diving team ranks fourth of 10 schools competing after day one of the annual College of Wooster Invitational inside the Ellen Shapiro Natatorium.
A pair of NCAA Division II schools lead the team scoring with Edinboro University (Pa.) at 459 points and Gannon University (Pa.) at 441.5. Wooster is third at 370, while the Spartans are fourth at 295.
The Spartan 200-yard freestyle relay team opened the night with a fifth-place performance in a field of 16 as the quartet of junior Sara Tillie (Fallston, Md./Fallston), freshman Rachael Loek (Woodridge, Ill./Downers Grove South) and juniors Catherine Gormley (North Royalton, Ohio/North Royalton) and Maggie Dillione (Newtown, Pa./Council Rock North) touched the wall in a season-best time of 1:39.31.
Individually, Tillie placed third of 24 in the 200 individual medley with a season-best mark of 2:10.29.
Later in the night, the Spartans placed fourth in the 400 medley relay as the team of freshman Alison Thirion (Cortland, Ohio/Warren G. Harding), Tillie, freshman Rebecca Pakradooni (Martinez, Ga./Lakeside) and Dillione finished in 4:03.09.
Day two of the invitational begins on Friday with 10:00 a.m. prelims and 6:00 p.m. finals. The final day (Saturday) of competition runs at 10:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.
