CLEVELAND – The Case Western Reserve University men's and women's swimming & diving teams combined to outscore Division II Notre Dame College (Ohio), 332.5-145.5, on the opening night of the Cleveland City Tournament on Friday at Veale Natatorium.
The Spartans now face another DII foe in Lake Erie College tomorrow at 2:00 p.m.
On the men's side, the Spartans (5-0) were led by a two-win performance by junior Sean Nickley (Springfield, Va./West Springfield). The third-year Spartan won the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2:00.91 and touched the wall first in the 100 backstroke with a mark of 55.08.
Overall, Case's men won 10 events, including both relays.
For the women (2-3), freshman Rebecca Pakradooni (Martinez, Ga./Lakeside) was a double-winner in the 50 free (25.33) and 100 butterfly (1:00.58). Fellow rookie Riki Drout (Cincinnati, Ohio/Walnut Hills) swept the diving events with 148.35 points on the one-meter board and 171.60 in the three-meter event. The women also captured 10 events, one of which was a relay.
