The 16th-ranked Case Western Reserve University dropped a University Athletic Association match 2-0 to Brandeis University on Saturday afternoon in Oberlin, Ohio. With the loss, the Spartans fall to 10-2-0 and 0-2-0 in the UAA on the season, and the Judges improve to 9-3-0 and 1-1-0 in the UAA.
Brandeis scored in the 13th minute to take an early lead on a goal from sophomore Juliette Carreiro, assisted by sophomore Makenna Hunt. It was Carreiro's seventh goal of the season. Just a few minutes later, the Judges doubled their advantage with a goal from junior Daria Bakhtiari, her fourth goal of the season, and another assist from Hunt, her fourth of the season.
Offensively for the Spartans, freshman Merry Meyer led the team with three shots and two on goal. Sophomore Anika Washburn added two shots. In goal, senior Lauren Unterborn saved five shots.
Case Western Reserve will continue UAA play on Friday, October 18th when the team hosts Emory University (7-4-0, 0-2-0 UAA) on DiSanto Field. Kickoff is at 5:00 p.m.
