Sophomore goalkeeper Lauren Metz of the Case Western Reserve University women's soccer team has been named the University Athletic Association women's soccer defensive athlete of the week for the second time this season, as announced by the league office on Monday afternoon.
Metz helped the Spartans earn a 3-0 shutout victory over Oberlin College on Friday evening. She made five saves in the game, and played all 90 minutes to record her fourth individual shutout of the season.
Metz improved to 7-7-0 individually with the win, while lowering her goals-against average to 1.26 and raising her save percentage to .818. Metz currently ranks first among all University Athletic Association players with 72 saves and fourth with a .818 save percentage. This was her second career UAA Athlete of the Week honor.
The Case Western Reserve women's soccer team will now hit the road for their final three games of the 2018 season, beginning with a trip to the University of Rochester on Friday, October 26th.
