Case Western Reserve University sophomore goalkeeper Lauren Metz was named the University Athletic Association Defensive Athlete of the Week, after helping the women's soccer team to a 2-0 record this past week.
Metz finished the week with over 141 shutout minutes in net for the Spartans. In the Spartans' 1-0 overtime win over the College of Wooster on Tuesday, Metz played over 96 shutout minutes in net and made five saves.
For the season, Metz is 5-2-0 with a 0.50 goals against average. She is currently tied for first among all University Athletic Association players in saves (24), tied for first in save percentage (.889), second in goals-against average (0.50) and fourth in goals against (3).
Case Western Reserve returns to action on Tuesday, September 25th, when the team returns home to face Denison University. The match is slated to begin at 7:30 p.m. on DiSanto Field.
