Women’s Soccer Falls on the Road to Kenyon

The Case Western Reserve University women's soccer team dropped a tough 2-1 decision to Kenyon College on Friday evening in Gambier, Ohio.

The Spartans drop to 0-1 on the season, while the Ladies improve to 1-0 on the campaign.

The Ladies got on the board at the 21:55 mark when Samantha Hayes scored on an unassisted goal. The goal was Hayes' first on the season.

Kenyon would add to their advantage in the 58th minute when Hayes scored her second goal of the game via an assist from Meredith Rogers.

CWRU responded with one goal in the 86th minute when freshman forward Christina Hickson scored an unassisted goal for her first collegiate goal of her career. However, that wasn't enough as the Ladies held on for the 2-1 victory.

Sophomore goalkeeper Lauren Metz played well in her first collegiate start, saving three shots as the Spartans held a 12-10 advantage in shots. CWRU also edged Kenyon, 6-5, in corners.

The Spartans will be back in action on Sunday, September 2nd at 1:30 p.m., as they welcome the John Carroll University Blue Streaks to DiSanto Field for the home-opener.
