Spartan Women Shut Out 1-0 Against Penn St.-Behrend

A goal in the 75th minute by Penn State Behrend College senior Amanda Donohue was the difference as the Case Western Reserve University women's soccer team dropped a non-conference match, 1-0, on Wednesday night.

The Spartans fall to 2-1-0 on the season, while the Lions improve to 2-1-0.

The marker by Donohue was shot off of a cross from senior Sami Lowry. The goal was Donohue's first of the season.

CWRU fought hard all throughout the match. The Spartans took 12 of their 19 shots in the second half and came close to scoring on several occasions.

In net, sophomore goalkeeper Lauren Unterborn made six saves.

The Spartans held a 19-12 advantage in shots and also attempted two corner kick in the game. Junior midfielder Melanie Kukura and sophomore forward Kimberly Chen each recorded a game-high four shots.

CWRU will return to action on Saturday, September 9th, taking on Allegheny College in Meadville, Pennsylvania. The game is slated for a 1:00 p.m. start.
