Led by a first team nod for junior defender/midfielder Neha Cheemalavagu, three from Case Western Reserve University have earned a spot on the 2016 All-University Athletic Association Women's Soccer Team.
Cheemalavagu earns first team All-UAA honors for the first time in her career, after being named to the All-UAA second team last fall. CWRU also had a second team selection in senior defender Christine Breindel, as well as an honorable mention pick in senior forward Amy Lindberg.
Breindel and Lindberg finish their careers as three-time All-UAA selections, with each of them earning their first two honors during their sophomore and junior seasons.
Cheemalavagu and Breindel were the backbone of a Spartans' defense that yielded just 25 goals through 18 games and shutout four opponents during the season. Also contributing offensively, Cheemalavagu recorded three goals and one assist for seven total points throughout the season.
Lindberg started all 18 games for the Spartans, finishing as the team leader in goals (5), shots (52) and shots on goal (24). The forward also contributed two game winning goals this season, coming during the Spartans victory at Oberlin on September 1st and against Allegheny on September 10th.
Case Western Reserve finished the 2016 season with a 6-8-4 overall record and a 0-5-2 UAA mark.
