Senior forwards Marley Praprost and Amy Lindberg each netted a goal as the Case Western Reserve University women's soccer team defeated Ohio Wesleyan University, 2-0, on Wednesday evening at DiSanto Field.
CWRU improves to 5-3-3 on the season, and the Battling Bishops drop to 3-7.
The Spartans controlled the pace most of the way, and Praprost broke a scoreless tie in the 36th minute with her first goal of the season. Sophomore midfielder Melanie Kukura sent a perfect ball across the field to Praprost as she laced a shot past the goalkeeper.
CWRU didn't waste any time in the second half as they increased their lead to 2-0 at the 45:17 mark when Lindberg scored her team-leading fifth goal of the season via an assist from freshman forward Kimberly Chen.
For the match, the Spartans outshot the visitors 19-4 and held a 2-0 advantage in corner kicks.
In net, junior Sarah Newcomb recorded two saves and improved to 5-3-3 on the season.
The Spartans will return to action when they travel to Waltham, Massachusetts on Saturday, October 8th to take on eighth-ranked Brandeis University at 11:00 a.m.
