A goal in the 16th minute by Denison University senior Jacquie Graham was the difference as the Case Western Reserve University women's soccer team dropped a non-conference match, 1-0, on Wednesday night.
The Spartans fall to 4-3-2 on the season. The Big Red improves to 4-3-3.
The marker by Graham was shot in off of a rebound after senior Anne Denz's shot was blocked. The goal was Graham's first of the season.
CWRU fought hard all throughout the match. The Spartans took 10 of their 16 shots in the second half and came close to scoring on several occasions.
In net, Spartan junior goalkeeper Sarah Newcomb made six saves.
The Spartans held a 16-15 advantage in shots and also attempted three corner kicks in the game.
CWRU will return to action against New York University in their conference opener on Saturday, October 1st at 11:00 a.m.
