The Case Western Reserve University women's soccer team dropped a tough 2-1 decision to No. 24 Ohio Northern University on Saturday, September 17.
The Spartans fall to 3-2-1 overall and Ohio Northern improves to 5-0 overall.
The Polar Bears got on the board in the 8th minute when Hayley Moses scored off an assist from Rose Nienabar. The goal was Moses' second on the season.
Ohio Northern would add to their advantage in the 73 minute when Haley Napier found the back of the net for her first goal of the season.
CWRU responded with one goal in the 86th minute when junior midfielder Neha Cheemalavagu scored via an assist from senior forward Amy Lindberg, but that wasn't enough as the Polar Bears held on for the 2-1 victory.
Junior goalkeeper Sarah Newcomb played a fantastic match in net for the Spartans, saving eight shots as Ohio Northern held a 16-5 advantage in shots. The Polar Bears also edged CWRU, 4-3, in corners.
The Spartans will be back in action on Tuesday, September 20th at 6:00 p.m. when they host Wittenberg University.
