Spartans Play to Scoreless Draw with Wooster

The Case Western Reserve University women's soccer team wrapped up a five game home stand with a double-overtime scoreless tie against the College of Wooster in a non-conference match at DiSanto Field in Cleveland, Ohio on Saturday afternoon.

The tie brings the Spartans record to 7-4-4 on the year, while the Fighting Scots are now 10-5-2.

The shutout was the 10th through 15 games in 2015 for the Spartans defense, led by sophomore Neha Cheemalavagu, and juniors Christine Breindel and Madeline Pollifrone, who each played the entirety of the game.  Senior goalkeeper Megan Romelfanger made four saves in the contest, en route to her sixth individual shutout of the year.

Chances were few and far between for both teams in the game on Saturday, with Wooster finishing the game with four shots on goal, and CWRU registering three.  The Scots outshot the Spartans by a final count of 10-6.

Junior Amy Lindberg had two of the team's six shots, including one on goal.  Senior Makenzie Best and junior Anne Backlund each tallied shots on goal as well for the Spartans in the tie.

The Spartans will resume conference play next weekend with a pair of road contests against ranked opposition.  CWRU is scheduled to take on the 19th-ranked University of Chicago on Friday, October 30th, following by a matchup with sixth-ranked Washington University (Mo.) on Sunday, November 1st.
