Wrestling to Host Ohio Wesleyan & Otterbein on Wednesday

The Case Western Reserve University wrestling team will welcome Ohio Wesleyan University and Otterbein University to Horsburgh Gymnasium for a pair of dual matches on Wednesday, January 15th. The Spartans will face the Battling Bishops at 5:00 p.m., and then take on the Cardinals at 6:30 p.m.

Pre-Meet Ceremony

Prior to the start of the CWRU and Otterbein match at 6:30 p.m., the Spartans will recognize their four graduating senior members – Isaac Collier, Jacob Frisch, Alec Hoover and Andrew Hoover.

CWRU Spartans

The Spartans are 1-5 in dual matches this season. Junior 197-pounder Brian Kent and first-year 149/157-pounder Mitchell Arch have totaled the most wins for CWRU this year. Kent (14-7) has recorded nine pins, while Arch (13-7), has tallied a team-high 12 pins. In addition, senior 149-pounder Andrew Hoover (11-8) has collected four pins.

The Spartans are under the leadership of fifth-year Head Coach Danny Song. He is assisted by Chas Busz and Tim Scarl.

Ohio Wesleyan Battling Bishops

Ohio Wesleyan is 0-1 in dual matches this season, after placing eighth at the Spartan Mat Classic on Saturday, January 4th. The Battling Bishops are led by sophomore 157-pounder Bryce Wittman, who has totaled a 23-8 overall record. Sophomore 174-pounder Jaret Lowry has contributed a 15-12 record, while freshman 184-pounder Abe Spurlock has registered a 13-10 record.

The Battling Bishops are coached by Paul Reid, who is in his second season with the squad.

Otterbein Cardinals

The Cardinals are 12-2 in dual matches this season, following six victories at the KSU-Tuscarawas Duals on Sunday. In d3wrestle.com's most recent individual rankings, senior Drew Kasper ranks as the top wrestler in the 285-pound weight class, while freshman Ryan Whitten is recognized as honorable mention in the 157-pound weight class.

Otterbein is under the leadership of Brent Rastetter, who is in his fourth season with the program. He is assisted by Doug Short, Jake Vaughan, Matt Walker and Matt Alltop.
