Members of the Case Western Reserve University wrestling team competed at the 2019 Ohio Intercollegiate Open on Sunday in the Veale Field House on the CWRU campus.
With the majority of the field at the open consisting of NCAA Division I and II wrestlers, the Spartans had one wrestler place within the top eight, and three wrestlers tally two victories throughout the tournament.
Junior Brian Kent placed sixth in the White Division 197 weight class with a record of 2-2. He won by pin in 1:08 over John Carroll's Connor Bizjack and then earned another pin in 2:38 over CWRU's Joey Shulik.
Gallagher earned a 12-6 decision over John Carroll's Doug Bailey, and then claimed a 20-7 major decision victory over Akron's Logan Kempf. Callow won by forfeit over John Carroll's Matt Whipkey and registered a 10-2 major decision victory over CWRU's Manhattan Gatton, while Arch earned wins by pin over Matt Jenkins (5:34) and by John Carroll's Brian Shaw (4:16).
Case Western Reserve is back in action on Saturday, November 16th when they host the CWRU Mini Invitational at Horsburgh Gymnasium in Cleveland, Ohio. Action is scheduled to start at 11:00 a.m.
