The Case Western Reserve University wrestling team will look to regain its momentum, when the squad travels to Wheaton, Illinois for the Pete Willson Invitational, hosted by Wheaton College on Friday, January 25th and Saturday, January 26th.
Action is slated to begin at 12:00 p.m. ET on Friday, and continue throughout the day, with action resuming on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. ET. The Championship matches on Saturday are scheduled to start approximately at 1:45 p.m. ET.
The field for the Pete Willson Invitational is slated to be a strong one, including fifth-ranked Baldwin Wallace University, seventh-ranked Mount Union, ninth-ranked UW-Lacrosse, 11th-ranked North Central College, 14th-ranked UW-Whitewater, 15th-ranked Olivet College, 16th-ranked Millikin University, the 20th-ranked University of Chicago, 22nd-ranked Ferrum College and 24th-ranked Messiah College. Other schools scheduled to attend include Adrian, Alma, Augustana, Buena Vista, Concordia University (Wis.), Defiance, University of Dubuque, Elizabethtown, Elmhurst, Heidelberg, John Carroll, Lakeland, Manchester, MacMurray, Mount St. Joseph, MSOE, Muskingum, Nebraska Wesleyan, Ohio Northern, Otterbein, Pacific, Thomas More, Trine, UW-Eau Claire, UW-Oshkosh, UW-Platteville, UW-Stevens Points and Wheaton.
The Spartans will be looking to gain momentum after coming off of a loss against Adrian College on Thursday. Junior 133-pounder Alec Hoover and junior 165-pounder Isaac Collier lead the team with 20 wins apiece. Alec Hoover (20-4) has recorded seven pins and one technical fall, while Collier (20-7), has tallied five pins and three technical falls. In addition, senior 285-pounder Brian McNamara and junior 141-pounder Andrew Hoover have each recorded 13 wins. McNamara (13-10) has gathered two pins and Andrew Hoover (13-13) has collected four pins and three technical falls.
Six wrestlers are currently scheduled to compete for the Spartans, including freshman Adam Kates (125 pounds), junior Alec Hoover (133 pounds), junior Andrew Hoover (141 pounds), junior Isaac Collier (165 pounds), senior Gavin Dersh-Fisher (197 pounds) and freshman Grant Robinson (285 pounds).
Results of the meet will be posted to athletics.case.edu after each day of competition, with a full release after the conclusion of competition on Saturday.
