Spartan Wrestlers Fall at Adrian in Third Dual Match of the Season

The Case Western Reserve University wrestling team fell 25-12 at Adrian College in Adrian, Michigan on Thursday evening.

The Spartans scored their 12 points in the match at the 133-pound weight class, the 141-pound weight class, the 165-pound weight class and the 197-pound weight class.

Junior 133-pounder Alec Hoover claimed a victory by decision against Elijah Sanchez (13-10), while junior 141-pounder Andrew Hoover earned another decision by victory over Dominic Paterra (11-5). Junior 165-pounder Isaac Collier added a victory by decision over Zach Altman (7-5), and then senior 197-pounder Gavin Dersh-Fisher earned the final decision victory over Zach Reynolds (7-0).

Two matches ended in decisions, with freshman Jack Chipps falling 7-2 to Ethan Garcia in the 157-pound match and senior Brian McNamara suffering a 6-0 loss to Isaiah Espinoza in the 285-pound match.

Adrian registered three technical falls in the match, and also claimed a major decision victory

The loss dropped the Spartans to 0-3 on the year in dual matches, while Adrian improved to 7-2.

The Spartans will return to action on Saturday, January 19th, for the 2019 Si Ostrach Meet. CWRU will host Waynesburg University at 12:00 p.m., Washington & Jefferson College at 1:30 p.m. and Trine University at 3:00 p.m. in Horsburgh Gymnasium on the CWRU campus.
