The Case Western Reserve University wrestling team fell 51-0 against 22nd-ranked Brockport College at the 2018 Si Ostrach Meet on Saturday afternoon in Horsburgh Gymnasium.
With the loss, the Spartans dropped to 2-2 on the year, while Brockport improved to 3-0.
CWRU faced a trio of nationally-ranked wrestlers during the dual against the Golden Eagles on Saturday. At 125 pounds, freshman Anand Shah fell to Jonathan Hass, ranked first among Division III 125-pounders. Sophomore Ben Kring dropped a match at 149 pounds to Sean Peacock, ranked sixth among Division III 149-pounders, while junior Gavin Dersh-Fisher dropped a match at 197 pounds to Triston Engle, ranked ninth among Division III 197 pounders.
The Spartans also competed in exhibition matches throughout the meet that involved matches against Brockport and John Carroll University.
CWRU tallied 10 victories during those matches, while sophomore 141-pounder Andrew Hoover and Dersh-Fisher led the Spartans with two wins each. Andrew Hoover pinned John Carroll's Iain Whitis (1:57) and then earned a 7-0 decision over Brockport's Wesley Woodworth. Dersh-Fisher claimed a 5-2 decision against Brockport's Jerrell White and then picked up a 4-0 decision over Brockport's Dillon Knoll.
Case Western Reserve will be back in action on Wednesday, January 17th, as they welcome the Adrian College Bulldogs to Horsburgh Gymnasium for their final home meet of the 2017-18 campaign. Action is slated to start at 7:00 p.m.
