Spartan Wrestling to End 2017 at RIT Invitational

The Case Western Reserve University wrestling team will travel to Rochester, New York for the 52nd-Annual RIT Invitational Wrestling Tournament on Saturday, December 2nd.

Action at the meet is slated to begin at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday at the Gordon Field House on the RIT campus. The tournament will continue throughout the day, with the finals scheduled to begin at 6:00 p.m.

In addition to CWRU and host RIT, other schools participating at the meet include Alfred State, John Carroll, Lycoming, Norwich, Oneonta State, SUNY-Oswego, Scranton, Thiel, Wesleyan and Worcester Polytechnic Institute.

Current entries for the Spartans include sophomore Alec Hoover and freshman Anand Shah in the 125 pound weight class, sophomore Jacob Frisch in the 133 pound weight class, sophomore Andrew Hoover in the 141 pound weight class, sophomore Michael Petersen, freshman Thomas Gallagher and sophomore Ben Kring in the 149 pound weight class, sophomore Isaac Collier in the 157 pound weight class, senior Connor Gordon in the 165 pound weight class, freshman Brian Kent, senior Cito Balsells and senior Nick Tommas in the 174 pound weight class, senior Nate Tommas in the 184 pound weight class, sophomore Gavin Dersh-Fisher and freshman Michael Hughes in the 197 pound weight class and junior Brian McNamara and senior Nate Lewis in the 285 pound weight class.

This will be CWRU's first invitational meet of the season, after the squad has opened with an open-style tournament and a dual meet. Dersh-Fisher leads the squad with a 6-1 overall recorded, and has notched two victories by pins. Collier has added a 5-3 mark on the year, including one pin and one technical fall.

In addition, Saturday will be the season debut for Kring, Lewis and Nick Tommas.
