The Case Western Reserve University wrestling team fell 34-12 against John Carroll University in the Tony DeCarlo Varsity Center on Sunday morning.
The Spartans scored their 12 points in the match at the 197-pound weight class and the 285-pound weight class. Junior 197-pounder Gavin Dersh-Fisher claimed a victory by pin against Russell Porter (1:48). Junior 285-pounder Brian McNamara added a victory by fall as well, pinning Bryce Carmichael in 1:21. For the season, Dersh-Fisher leads the Spartans with five wins, while McNamara has totaled two wins.
Two matches ended in decisions, with sophomore Alec Hoover falling 8-3 to Dominic Devine in the 125-pound match, and sophomore Isaac Collier dropping a 13-7 decision to Austin Victor in the 157-pound match.
John Carroll registered three wins by major decision, two by technical fall and one by pin during the match.
The loss dropped the Spartans to 0-1 on the year in dual matches, while John Carroll improved to 1-1.
Case Western Reserve will take a week off of competition before returning to action on Saturday, December 2nd at the RIT Invitational.
