Spartan Wrestling to Face JCU in First Dual Match of the Season

The Case Western Reserve University wrestling is set to travel to University Heights, Ohio on Sunday, November 19th to take on John Carroll University at 10:00 a.m. Sunday's match will serve as the first dual match of the season for the Spartans.

Junior Gavin Dersh-Fisher was one of five Spartans to place at the 2017 Ohio Intercollegiate Open on Sunday. He placed fifth in the Open 197 weight class with a record of 4-1, including a pin over Notre Dame's Paul Ivy in 6:37. Sophomore Michael Petersen and freshman Brian Kent each added fourth-place finishes in their respective weight classes, while sophomore Alec Hoover finished sixth in the 125-pound weight class and sophomore Isaac Collier placed seventh in the 157-pound weight class.

John Carroll is 0-1 in dual matches during the 2017-18 campaign.  The Blue Streaks are led by Jarrad Lasko, who has a 5-1 record in the 149-pound weight class, and Jarrod Brezovec, who has recorded a 4-0 mark in the 141-pound weight class.

12 wrestlers are currently scheduled to compete for the Spartans, including sophomore Alec Hoover (125 pounds), sophomore Jacob Frisch (133 pounds), sophomore Andrew Hoover (141 pounds), sophomore Michael Petersen (149 pounds), sophomore Isaac Collier (157 pounds), senior Connor Gordon (165 pounds), freshman Brian Kent or senior Cito Balsells or senior Nick Tommas (174 pounds), senior Nate Tommas (184 pounds), junior Gavin Dersh-Fisher (197 pounds) and junior Brian McNamara (285 pounds).
