The Case Western Reserve University wrestling team fell 37-9 against Otterbein University in Horsburgh Gymnasium on Wednesday evening.
The Spartans scored their nine points in the match at the 149-pound weight class and the 197-pound weight class. Freshman 149-pounder Isaac Collier claimed a victory by technical fall against Michael Wright (18-0). Sophomore 197-pounder Gavin Dersh-Fisher added a victory by major decision against Luke Hess (10-2). For the season, Collier leads the Spartans with 14 wins, while Dersh-Fisher has totaled 10 wins.
Three matches ended in decisions, with senior Matt Moy falling 11-5 to Jackson Lakso in the 125-pound match, freshman Alec Hoover dropping a 6-5 decision to Tyler Norris at 133 pounds and junior Connor Gordon suffering a 4-2 loss to Donny Didion in the 165-pound match.
Otterbein registered four pins during the match, and claimed one win by major decision.
The loss dropped the Spartans to 0-1 on the year in dual matches, while Otterbein improved to 9-1.
Case Western Reserve will be back in action on Saturday, January 14th, when the squad heads to Collegeville, Pennsylvania for the Ursinus Invite, hosted by Ursinus College.
