CWRU Wrestling to Host 2016 Ohio Intercollegiate Open

The Case Western Reserve University wrestling team will host the 2016 Ohio Intercollegiate Open Wrestling Tournament on Sunday, November 13th.

Action at the meet is slated to begin at 9:00 a.m. on Sunday at the Veale Field House on the CWRU campus. The tournament will continue throughout the day, with the finals scheduled to begin at 4:00 p.m.

Admission for the event will cost $5 for Adults (18 & over), $3 for Children (17 & under), $3 for guest of a CWRU student, faculty or staff ID holder, $3 for guest of a CWRU Community ID Card holder and free admission with each valid CWRU student, faculty or staff ID.

In addition to CWRU, other schools participating at the meet include Cleveland State University, Kent State University, Ohio State University, Ohio University, University of Pittsburgh, University at Buffalo, West Virginia University, Ashland University, Mott College, Niagara County Community College, Notre Dame College, University of Findlay and Tiffin University. There will be over 225 competitors, with schools sending partial and full rosters.

Current entries for the Spartans include freshman Jacob Frisch in the 125 pound weight class, freshman Alec Hoover in the 133 pound weight class, freshman Andrew Hoover and freshman Ben Kring in the 149 pound weight class, freshman Isaac Collier and freshman Michael Petersen in the 149 pound weight class, junior Connor Gordon in the 165 pound weight class, junior Nate Tommas and junior Nick Tommas in the 174 pound weight class, sophomore Gavin Dersh-Fisher and sophomore Chris Zhang in the 197 pound weight class and junior Adam Bloomer in the 285 weight class. 

This will be CWRU's first intercollegiate tournament of the season.
