CWRU Wrestling to Compete at NCAA Mideast Regionals

The Case Western Reserve University wrestling team will travel to Lycoming College in Williamsport, Pennsylvania for the 2016 NCAA Division III Mideast Regional Championships on Saturday, February 27th and Sunday, February 28th.

Action is slated to begin on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. with the preliminary round, first round, quarterfinals, and the first three rounds of the consolation brackets all scheduled for the first day.  The Regional Championships will resume on Sunday, February 28th with the remainder of the matches taking place during the day.

The NCAA III Championships qualifying tournament is a two-day, double-elimination format. The top three placers in each weight class will earn automatic bids to the NCAA III Championships March 11-12 at Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

Limited to one wrestler per weight class, nine Spartans are currently scheduled to be attending the meet, including junior Matt Moy (125 pounds), freshman Luke DiMuzio (133 pounds), freshman Connor Howlin (141 pounds), sophomore Connor Gordon (157 pounds), sophomore Nick Tommas (165 pounds), senior Nick Lees (175 pounds), freshman Garrett Ruderman (184 pounds), freshman Gavin Dersh-Fisher (197 pounds) and freshman Brian McNamara (285 pounds).

Along with CWRU and host Lycoming, other schools scheduled to participate include Baldwin Wallace, Brockport, Elizabethtown, Heidelberg, John Carroll, Messiah, Mount Union, Muskingum, Oswego, RIT, Scranton, Thiel, Washington & Jefferson, Waynesburg, Wilkes and York (Pa.).
