Case Western Reserve University junior Nick Lees was selected as the University Athletic Association Wrestler of the Week, after his standout performance during four matches for the Spartans during the team's opening week of competition.
Lees tallied pins in three of his four matches at the 174-pound weight class during the week for the Spartans. He won all three of his matches at the Comet Duals in Olivet, Michigan, pinning Olivet College's Nicholas Affricano at the 4:49 mark, Trine University's JayCee Jensen just 50 seconds into the match, and Adrian College's Zac Reynolds four minutes and 57 seconds into the bout.
Earlier in the week, he suffered a loss to Garret Chase of Baldwin Wallace University, when he was pinned at the 4:30 mark.
This was the first UAA Athlete of the Week award for Lees, who stands at a team-best 3-1 for the season.
The Spartans have opened the 2015-16 campaign with a 0-4 record. The team will be back in action at the RIT Invitational on Saturday, December 5th.
