Lees Pins Three on Saturday for Spartan Wrestling

Case Western Reserve University junior Nick Lees pinned his opponent in all three of the team's matches on Saturday afternoon at the Comet Duals in Olivet, Michigan, but it was not enough for the Spartans, who fell short in the final team score in each of the three contests.

Host Olivet College defeated CWRU in the early match by a 42-9 score, with the Spartans going on to drop a 32-18 decision to Trine University, and a 40-9 match to Adrian College to round out the day.  The Spartans fell to 0-4 on the season with the losses.

In the early match against Olivet, the Spartans came away with a pair of victories.  At 133 pounds, junior Connor Medlang won an 8-2 decision over Olivet's Evan Hoshaw, while Lees pinned Nicholas Affricano at the 4:49 mark of the 174-pound match.

Against Trine, sophomore Connor Gordon defeated Kevin Groves with a pin at the 6:38 mark in the 157-pound match, while Lees pinned JayCee Jensen just 50 seconds into their 174-pound bout.  In addition, sophomore Nick Tommas earned a forfeit victory in the 184-pound match.

Gordon would again claim a victory in the 157-pound match up during the team's setback against Adrian, earning a 10-6 decision over Chandler Reed, while Lees pinned Zac Reynolds at the 4:57 mark in the 174-pound match.

Case Western Reserve will return to action on Saturday, December 5th at the RIT Invitational.
