Spartan Wrestling Opens 2015-16 with Loss at #14 Baldwin Wallace

Case Western Reserve University opened the 2015-16 wrestling season with a 48-6 loss at 14th-ranked Baldwin Wallace University in Berea, Ohio on Wednesday night.

The Spartans scored their six points in the match at the 125-pound weight class, where junior Matt Moy claimed a victory by forfeit.  Three matches ended in major decisions, with junior Connor Medlang falling 8-0 to nationally fourth-ranked Jesse Gunter in the 133-pound match, sophomore Connor Gordon dropping a 22-8 decision to Graham Montague at 157 pounds, and junior Ryan Berg suffering a 16-5 loss to Tyler Maclellan in the 197 pound match.

Baldwin Wallace registered four pins during the match, and claimed an additional two matches by forfeit.

The loss dropped the Spartans to 0-1 on the year, while Baldwin Wallace improved to 1-2.

The Spartans will be back in action on Saturday, November 21st, when the squad heads to Olivet, Michigan for the Comet Duals, where the team is scheduled to take on Olivet College, Trine University and Adrian College.
