Spartan Grapplers Fall to JCU

CLEVELAND – The Case Western Reserve University wrestling team suffered its first loss of the season by a score of 40-12 versus local-rival John Carroll University on Tuesday evening at Horsburgh Gymnasium.

The Spartans drop to 4-1, while the Blue Streaks improve to 4-1.

Freshman Aaran Gessic (Perry, Ohio/Perry) highlighted the evening for CWRU with his third pin in five collegiate matches. The rookie is a combined 5-0 with four wins at 141 and one at 149.

The Spartans led 12-6 after picking up a forfeit at 125 and a Gessic pin (2:20) of John Connick at 141. From there, the Blue Streaks scored the final 34 points of the match.

The Spartans remain at home to host another Greater Cleveland rival, Baldwin Wallace University, next Wednesday, November 19 at 7:00 p.m.
