CLEVELAND – The 4-0 Case Western Reserve University wrestling team hosts local-rival John Carroll University on Tuesday, November 11 at 7:00 p.m. at Horsburgh Gymnasium.
The Spartans won all four of their dual matches at the season-opening CWRU Wrestling Festival on Saturday, November 8. The four wins equal the team's total from all of last season, which also happened to be more dual match wins for the program than the previous five seasons combined.
Individually, freshman Aaran Gessic (Perry, Ohio/Perry) went 4-0 with two pins, a technical fall and a forfeit. Sophomore captain David Brunk (Hood River, Ore./Hood River Valley) was 3-1 for the day as was freshman Travis Alexander (Farmingdale, N.Y./Long Island Lutheran) and sophomore Nick Lees (Cleveland, Ohio/St. Ignatius).
The Blue Streaks (3-1) also competed at the CWRU Wrestling Festival with their lone loss coming to Alma College (Mich.), who like the Spartans, finished 4-0. Head Coach Kerry Volkmann picked up his 300th career victory, while three Blue Streaks went 4-0 for the weekend; Sal Corrao, Thomas McNulty and Terner Gott.
