FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – The Case Western Reserve University wrestling team competed for the first time in nearly a month and placed 11th at the annual Citrus Invitational hosted at Cardinal Gibbons High School on Saturday and Sunday, December 29-30.
Freshman Eric Sullivan (Middletown, Ohio/Lakota East) in the 157-pound bracket, and senior Dale English (Middleburgh Heights, Ohio/Holy Name) in the heavyweight class each placed seventh to account for the 22 Spartan points.
Sullivan was 3-2 for the weekend with a pin, and he defeated the University of Mount Union's Chad Zeigler by an 8-4 decision in the seventh-place match. For the season, Sullivan sports an overall record of 7-5.
English was 4-2 and picked up the win by default in the seventh-place match versus John Carroll University's Will Porter. Overall, English is 4-3 this season.
The Spartans open the second half of the season on Friday and Saturday, January 11-12, at the annual Budd Whitehill Duals hosted by Lycoming College (Pa.). Action begins each day at 9:00 a.m.
