CLEVELAND, Ohio – Senior captain Cale Harter (Mount Pleasant, Mich./Mount Pleasant) was a perfect 3-0 in the heavyweight division as the Case Western Reserve University wrestling team hosted the 2012 Si Ostrach Meet on Saturday at Horsburgh Gymnasium. Harter was also one of four CWRU wrestling senior student-athletes honored prior to the event.

The meet is named in honor of Simon Ostrach, the Wilbert Austin Distinguished Professor Emeritus of Engineering at Case and Spartan wrestling faculty advisor.

The Spartans were 0-3 on the day, beginning with a heart-breaking 19-18 loss to Muskingum University. Case also lost to meet champion Thiel College (Pa.) by a count of 40-9 and runner-up Rochester Institute of Technology (N.Y.), 38-10.

Versus Muskingum, the Spartans picked up six points via forfeit at 125 pounds for senior Jimmy Millar (Dublin, Ohio/Hilliard Davidson). Muskingum then moved ahead 12-6 with a decision at 133, a forfeit at 141 and a decision at 149. Case evened the score with a pair of decisions as senior Isaac Dukes (Ravenna, Ohio/Ravenna Senior) won 8-2 at 157 and senior Kyle Weaver (Delaware, Ohio/Olentangy) followed with a 10-5 victory at 165.

The two teams traded decisions at 174 and 184 with sophomore Dylan Novisky (Fairport, N.Y./Fairport) picking up three points for the Spartans at 184. Muskingum then picked up what would be the deciding points with a major decision at 197. Harter tried to even the scoreboard in the final match, but a late takedown that would have put him ahead by eight was nullified by an out-of-bounds call. The senior eventually won 7-3.

Versus Thiel, Dukes picked up a major decision at 157 with a 10-1 margin versus Ryan Carson. Harter scored the remaining five points with a 16-0 technical fall over Kevin Heyman.

In Case's final match with RIT, senior Kurtis Jensen (Marsfield, Mass./Marsfield) got the Spartans on the board at 174. Behind in points to Ben Johnstone, Jensen rallied with a takedown and a pin at the 4:15 mark. Harter closed the day out with an 8-0 major decision versus Eddie McBride.

Harter's 3-0 performance bumps his season mark to 22-11. Dukes was 2-1 on the day and improves to 8-2.
