WHEATON, Ill. – The Case Western Reserve University wrestling team competed at the two-day Pete Willson Invitational on Friday and Saturday at Wheaton College's Sport and Recreation Complex. The Spartans placed 30th in the 31-team field.
Senior heavyweight Cale Harter (Mount Pleasant, Mich./Mount Pleasant) was 3-2 for the weekend. The captain dropped his opening match before reeling off three-straight victories in the consolation bracket. Versus Patrick Marlatt of Wabash College (Ind.), Harter won by pin in 3:36.
He followed with a 6-0 decision over Shane Hendrickson of Trine University (Ind.) and a 1-0 win versus Alec Barker of John Carroll University before falling to Logan Renas of Olivet College (Mich.).
The Spartans have the next two weeks off from competition before hosting the first of three February home meets, the University Athletic Association Championship on Saturday, February 11 at Horsburgh Gymnasium.
