ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Senior heavyweight Cale Harter (Mount Pleasant, Mich./Mount Pleasant) finished runner-up in the 285-pound weight class as the Case Western Reserve University wrestling team placed ninth at the 46th Annual Rochester Institute of Technology Tournament on Saturday at Gordon Fieldhouse.
Harter posted a 3-1 record on the day to improve to 9-5 for the season. The senior captain opened the day with a 6-0 decision versus Brandon Jones of SUNY-Oswego before advancing to the third round with a 12-1 major decision versus Addison Carbone of Baldwin-Wallace College.
In the semifinals, Harter knocked off Anthony Joyce of Norwich University (Vt.) to advance to the championship match.
In a tight match with No. 1-seeded Kyle Sheridan of SUNY-Oswego, Harter fell by a count of 2-0.
The Spartans have nearly a month off from competition and will return to action on Thursday and Friday, December 29-30 at the Citrus Invitational in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
