Spartan Wrestlers Compete at Concordia Open in Wisconsin

MEQUON, Wis. – The Case Western Reserve University wrestling team competed at the unscored Concordia University Open on Saturday and three different Spartans posted multi-win days at the R. John Buuck Field House.

The Spartans have the holiday weekend off from competition before returning to action on Saturday, December 3 at the Rochester Institute of Technology (N.Y.) Invitational.

Sophomore Brian Snyder (Charlotte, N.C./East Mecklenburg) was 3-2 on the day, while senior captains Cale Harter (Mount Pleasant, Mich./Mount Pleasant) and Kyle Weaver (Delaware, Ohio/Olentangy) were each 2-2.

Snyder, competing at 157 pounds, opened with a 9-6 decision over David Tessiatore of Augustana College (Ill.). Snyder then pinned Mike Gossen of Loras College (Iowa) in 3:28 before falling into the wrestleback bracket. He then picked up a 9-5 decision versus Torey Weich of Augustana before dropping his final match of the day.

Also at 157, Weaver opened with an 8-4 decision versus Eric Telford of Muskegon Community College (Mich.) and followed with a pin of Jordan Semevolos (Concordia) in 2:05.

In the heavyweight division, Harter got off to a quick start with a pin of Widchero Cherident of Concordia in 4:40. After following in round two, he picked up one win in the wrestleback bracket via a 4-0 decision versus Dan Wisnewski of the University of Wisconsin-Platteville.
