BEREA, Ohio – The Case Western Reserve University wrestling team fell in its first dual match of the 2011-12 campaign by a score of 30-15 at cross-town rival Baldwin-Wallace College on Friday night at Ursprung Gymnasium.
The Spartans are back in action this Wednesday, November 16 at local-rival John Carroll University at 7:00 p.m. at the DeCarlo Center.
After the 125-pound weight class went uncontested, B-W (1-0) jumped out to a 13-0 lead with a forfeit at 133, a decision at 141 and a major decision at 149.
Case got on the board at 157 lbs. as sophomore Brian Snyder (Charlotte, N.C./East Mecklenburg) earned a 19-3 technical fall (6:25) versus Eric Gase. The Yellow Jackets picked up two more forfeits at 165 and 174 before moving ahead 30-5 with a tech fall at 184.
At 197 lbs., CWRU sophomore Rylan Pyciak (Rayland, Ohio/Buckeye Local) improved to 3-1 for the season with a 12-3 major decision versus Ryan Turdor. Senior heavyweight Cale Harter (Mount Pleasant, Mich./Mount Pleasant) then won via forfeit to bring the final score to 30-15.
Following Wednesday's dual at JCU, the Spartans get back into tournament action at the Concordia University (Wisc.) Open on Saturday, Nov. 19.
