CWRU Women’s Basketball to Face Waynesburg in Home Opener

The Case Western Reserve University women's basketball team will play its home opener on Tuesday, November 19th, hosting Waynesburg University at Horsburgh Gymnasium in Cleveland, Ohio at 7:00 p.m.

The Spartans will be looking for their first win of the campaign, after starting the season with a 0-4 record.  The team is coming off a pair of losses at the Springhill Suites Tip-Off Tournament in Washington, Pennsylvania, dropping a 71-64 contest against host Washington & Jefferson on Friday, and falling 65-56 to Otterbein on Saturday.  CWRU is averaging 54.0 points per game on 32.5% shooting overall and 18.1% from three-point range, while allowing 64.8 points per contest.

Sophomore guard Abbey Lawrence is leading all University Athletic Association players with 20.5 points per game this season, while adding 4.5 rebounds per game.  Junior forward Emma Cain has added 7.5 points and a team-high 7.0 rebounds per game.

Waynesburg stands at 0-2 on the campaign with an 83-74 loss to Penn State Behrend and an 86-68 setback against Hiram, both at home.  The Yellow Jackets are averaging 71.0 points per game on 39.3% shooting overall and 29.3% shooting from long range, while allowing 84.5 points per contest.

Sophomore center Brooke Fuller is leading the team with 15.5 points per game and 7.0 rebounds per contest, and junior guard Andrea Orlosky has added 12.0 points per game and 6.0 rebounds per contest.

The Spartans are 1-1 all-time against Waynesburg with a 78-45 win over the Yellow Jackets during the 1999-00 season, and a 73-69 setback during the 2015-16 season.  Both previous meetings between the team were played on a neutral site.  No current Spartans were on the team during the last matchup with Waynesburg.
